A day after Gurgaon banned hookah bars in the city,the Deputy Commissioner of Police,(Panchkula),has also banned the hookah bars in the district by invoking Section 144 of the CrPC.
Orders to ban hookah bars in Panchkula comes six day after two bars were banned by the Food and Drug Authority to serve hookah.
Hookah bars are serving tobacco molasses containing nicotine which is injurious to health. College students and youths were the most affected. The people,were being spoiled by these illegally run hookah bars. Keeping in mind the health hazards of tobacco and nicotine,operation of hookah bars have been prohibited in the district with immediate effect, the order issued by the DCP said.
The orders of the DCP were sent to offices of DSPs,police stations and health authorities for strict compliance.

All Sub Divisional Magistrates,Tehsildars,Block Development and Panchayat Officers,General Manager,Haryana Roadways and other officers of district administration have been asked to enforce these orders in their respective areas. Those found violating these orders will be dealt with sternly and strict legal action will be taken against them, the order said.
No bar in Panchkula had the licenses needed for serving hookah. Nearly a dozen bars in Panchkula were serving hookah and the FDA officials in past one month had taken tobacco samples from all the bars which were sent to State Drug Laboratory at Chandigarh for analysis.
On November 23,two bars were banned from serving hookah after FDA officials received the reports of the samples collected from the two bars.
