The Punjab & Haryana High Court on Thursday put a stay on the further auction proceedings being conducted by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) in Sector 8, Panchkula, for constructing eight shop-cum-offices (SCOs).
A PIL was filed by the Panchkula Welfare Association regarding this.
The division bench comprising Justice S S Saron and Justice Lisa Gill also issued a notice to the Haryana government and HUDA for filing their replies by September 20.
The petitioner association had approached the high court seeking stay on the allotment of auctioned The petitioner also sought directions to allot the same land for construction of a community centre. The court was informed that despite a proposal for construction of a community centre at the site, HUDA officials on July 26 held an e-auction amounting to Rs 1.47 crore for eight SCOs.
