Palak,Amanjot guide GNPS to title win

Led by fine show by their forwards Palak and Amanjot,Guru Nanak Public School,Sector 36 defeated Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 20 48-17 to bag the title in the U-17 girls’ category in the UT inter-school basketball championship played at Sector 46 Complex.

It was a match dominated by Guru Nanak Public School,Sector 36 right from the start. Palak and Amanjot ran well and netted eight points each. For the losing team,Ruchika and Divya netted six points each.

A stellar performance by their forwards Teesha (18 points) and Gurbir (10 points) guided Sharda School,Sector 40 to a narrow 30-28 win over Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 20 and sailed into the finals in the U-14 girls category.

In a high scoring match,both the teams made constant attacks into each other’s territory but in the end,Sharda School emerged as the winners. Teesha was the top scorer for the team netting 18 points while Gurbir scored ten points. For the losing team,Ranji displayed a valiant show scoring 24 points but her effort went into vain. Nisha scored four points.

In another semi-final match in the same category,St Anne’s School,Sector 32 scored an easy 50-26 win over Carmel Convent School,Sector 9. St Anne’s School,Sector 32 dominated the proceedings right from the start and took a lead after the end of the first quarter. The reaming three quarters also saw St Anne’s School forwards netting points regularly. Gunisha was the star of the day for the winning team as she netted 30 points while Ritika scored four points. For Carmel Convent School,Nilisha scored 14 points while Parul netted eight points.

In the UT inter-school volleyball tournament,Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 19 claimed the title in the boys’ U-14 category with a 25-14,25-17,25-9 win over Government Senior Secondary School,Kaimbwala. Manav Mangal School,Sector 21 claimed the third spot with a 25-18,25-12,25-21 win over St Soldier’s School,Sector 28. In the U-17 category,Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 26 (Timber market) emerged as the winners in the final against Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 27 with a 27-25,25-10,25-12 win.

In the UT inter-school badminton tournament,Delhi Public School,Sector 40 claimed the title in the girls’ U-14 category with a 2-1 win over Sacred Heart School,Sector 26.
