Opt for semester evaluations over annual exams,says V-C

A meeting of the head of various departments of Panjab University was held in the administrative block of the University on Monday.

A meeting of the head of various departments of Panjab University (PU) was held in the administrative block of the University on Monday.

The meeting was chaired by PU vice-chancellor Prof R C Sobti,who directed the members to formulate eco-friendly clubs and promote environmental issues among students.

He asked the departments,which currently hold annual examinations,to opt for the semester system.

The department heads were also asked to improve on the coordination and interaction among each other.

Discussions were carried out on issues related to various courses.

The heads were asked to submit their ideas relating to new courses. It was decided that after working on the modalities of a particular course,the university would implement the same.

The V-C asked the heads to submit details about the ongoing courses and itsresponses.

In the meeting,Prof Sobti also mentioned about a Rs 2 crore grant for research work and asked the various departments to submit their requirements so that the amount can be given accordingly.

He also asked them to guide students on traffic rules.
