The Congress attempt to discuss the issue of BJP chief Kamal Sharma’s aides being investigated in an alleged drugs case and the treasury’s counter remarks led to chaos in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
Congress MLA Parminder Singh Pinki tried to raise the issue at the closing minutes of Zero Hour.
The Speaker, however, did not allow it citing the lack of time.
Congress MLAs then trooped into the Well of the House raising slogans against the government sparking a counter charge from SAD MLAs led by Virsa Singh Valtoha.
Marshals trooped into the House in an attempt to bring order and the Speaker called for a half-hour adjournment. The legislators however engaged in sloganeering.
SAS and BJP members watched silently as the two sides duelled. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Madan Mohan Mittal tried to take Valtoha out from the House by grabbing his arm. However, Valtoha freed himself from Mittal and charged at the Congressmen.
The Congress then targetted minister Anil Joshi asking him to take cognisance of the statements made by Valtoha. They reminded him of the objections he had raised when similar words were uttered by Valtoha in the last assembly session.
