Having installed fountains in greenbelts and parks at different places, the Water Supply and Sanitation Committee of the Municipal Corporation on Tuesday decided that only one water feature would be installed in each sector. Even though the MC had taken a similar decision earlier,it was never followed.
At a meeting held under the chairmanship of Mukesh Bassi, the committee decided that with the aim of conserving water, only one fountain should be installed in each sector.
The members of the committee asked the officials to ensure adequate water supply to the residents on the first and second floors during summers. With the usage of water increasing during summers, the water pressure is low. This creates problems for the residents on the upper storeys.
The members of the committee approved provision for cascading water feature in central park,Modern Housing Complex,Manimajra, that would cost Rs 14.60 lakh. Provision and supply of tertiary treated water for the park in Sector 19 was approved.
Repair of the pipelines at Leisure Valley would be done at a cost of Rs 9.40 lakh. Due to widening of the V-5 road, the road gullies in Sector 21 are required to be shifted. For this,an amount of Rs 9.40 lakh was approved.
