Submitting the admission forms, clarifying their doubts and highlighting their problems, many parents were seen busy at the city private schools on Monday, with Tuesday being the last date for submission of the entry-level admission forms.

The school offices were flooded with queries from the parents regarding the documents to be attached with the registration form. There was also confusion about the number of seats in the general category and about the fee structure. The parents were found complaining that the schools’ websites do not provide detailed information on certain issues.

“All the schools are following their own rules and conditions. While some are accepting the admission form with the UID card, some say it is not acceptable,” said Vinod Mahajan, father of a daughter who has applied in four schools.

In some schools, there is confusion about the general seats and the reserved category seats, because of which parents are applying in four or more schools to secure a seat for their child. One of the parents,Mrinalini Gupta said,“I have applied in four schools for the admission of my son so that if he couldn’t get through one by any chance, other schools will be there.”

There are some parents who want their child to get admission only in any of the missionary schools, which is why they have applied in all of them. “In these schools, admissions are done on the basis of draw-of-lot system, which is why we cannot assure a seat in any of the schools since there is a huge rush at these schools. Many parents prefer St John’s for their sons and Carmel Convent or Sacred Heart for their daughters,” said one of the parents.

Having uploaded the admission forms on their respective websites on November 25,most of the city schools will not be accepting the admission forms post 4 pm on December 10.

However, the four missionary schools – St Anne’s Convent School,Carmel Convent School,Sacred Heart and St John’s – have fixed the last date of submission of the forms on December 19 as these schools are busy with their annual functions and other events. At Saupin’s School,Sector 32,the last date of the submission of the forms will be December 12 and the results will be declared by January 15. Vivek High School is already done with the admission process on November 29.

The finalisation of the admission process will be done after the winter vacations. The list of the selected students and the waiting list will be displayed at the individual schools from January 10 to 20.

The parents of selected students will have to deposit the fees by January 25,after which the schools will display the second waiting list from January 29 to January 31.
