NEARLY FOUR months after collection of blood samples of the UK-based mother of NRI Ranjit Singh Powar, the DNA report is still awaited. The Jalandhar police commissionerate collected the blood samples in October last year, five months after Powar’s body was found.

Gurmeet Kaur, 83, had reached Punjab from the UK after a DNA test in the UK did not match.

The family had earlier claimed through a Facebook post that this body recovered by the Jalandhar police was not of Ranjit Singh Powar.

This had also posed a new challenge to the Punjab Police.

The Jalandhar police had urged the family members to come to Jalandhar and provide blood samples as the DNA test conducted in UK was not valid here for further investigation of the case.

ADCP Amrik Singh Puar said after collecting blood sample of the mother of the deceased in October last year it was sent to the forensic lab in Mohali.
