A Panchkula court on Monday dismissed a plea seeking interim custody of the children of deceased Geetanjali. A petition was moved by Geetanjali’s parents seeking custody of their granddaughters from November 5 to 7 to celebrate Aasma’s,the elder child, birthday. Om Parkash Aggarwal and his wife, parents of Geetanjali, whose bullet-ridden body was found from her husband Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg’s compound in July this year, had moved the petition on October 31 to seek a three-day custody. The opposition party had reportedly assured the grandparents that the children were out of station and they would be permitted the custody once they are back. In the last hearing, however, high drama was witnessed outside the court as the petitioners alleged that they had seen the children with their father in Sector 38. They had also submitted a photograph to this effect to the court. Aasma turned five on November 6 this year. The last time Aggarwal and his wife were allowed to meet their grand-daughters was on September 22,when the couple met the two minors for three hours in Panchkula at their counsellors’ residence.
