Two accused in the Una cash seizure case, which had triggered raids at the 17th Karmapa Oygyen Trinley Dorje’s Gyuto Monastery, who had applied for bail today failed to get any relief as the court declined their plea for release on bail.

Karma Thapa and his wife Rinzin Thapa — who are alleged to be responsible for currency change in Delhi, were picked up from Majnoo-Ka-Tila in Delhi and later brought to Una for interrogation. The police are reported to have conducted raids at their premises at Delhi and Manali and also scrutinised the bank accounts.

“We have definite clues about their role in the case and some documents seized from them also establish their involvement in the land dealings,” said a police officer this evening.
