Taking a dig at the Central government for hiking the prices of fuel,Jaspal Bhatti,a noted satirist, said on Sunday that all Opposition parties and the public should cook food by burning the effigies of the government.
If the government cannot give subsidy on LPG,it must announce sufficient subsidy on effigies. The government should promote effigy-making industry. If we harness that energy ( from effegy burning) for cooking and other household uses,we can beat the inflation to some extent,Bhatti said.
He added that housewives should burn effigies of the prominent leaders for cooking. The effigy of Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora may generate more heat than LPG. Effigies of some overweight ministers may be more suitable for cooking non-vegetarian food, he quipped.
