The Allahabad High Court acquitted Moninder Singh Pandher along with his domestic help Surinder Koliin the Nithari killings cases over lack of evidence. Pandher was acquitted in two cases and Koli in 12 of them. The two were arrested on December 29, 2006.

While talking to The Indian Express over the phone, Karan Singh Pandher said, “We have trust in the law of the land. We did not criticise anyone. We went through legal channels and the decision came in our favour. We welcome this judgement”.
Karan Singh Pandher, who is in his late thirties, said they are yet to get a copy of the decision of the Allahabad High Court. “I wish I had gone to Allahabad today but couldn’t due to certain important works in Chandigarh.”
He added, “A plea of my father pertaining to his transfer to Chandigarh Model Burail Jail is pending in the Supreme Court. However, as the High Court has acquitted my father, I believe that plea is now immaterial”.

Family members, including Pandher’s wife, Devender Kaur, were present at the single-story sprawling house in Sector 27 of Chandigarh when the High Court announced its decision.
A domestic helper of the family said, “I joined this house just three years ago. I don’t know much about the cases”.
Koli and Pandher were arrested on December 29, 2006, after the Noida police recovered skeletons and other belongings of missing girls from the drain outside their house D-5 in Nithari.
Authorities had accused Koli of killing several girls and chopping their bodies to pieces before throwing them in the backyard outside their house. They were convicted in February 2009.
