NIA chargesheets 3 in Punjab police post grenade attack, links it to Khalistan Zindabad Force

As part of a broader investigation, the NIA has also initiated proceedings against KZF chief and designated individual terrorist (DIT) Ranjit Singh alias Neeta, along with operative Jagjit Singh Lahiri alias Jagga, Jagga Miapur, Hari Singh, who is currently based in the United Kingdom, and other unidentified foreign-based handlers.

The NIA, which took over the probe from Punjab Police in March, uncovered that Jagga allegedly recruited Yugpreet Singh through a UK-based acquaintance, radicalised him via encrypted messaging apps, and provided him over Rs 36 lakh in terror funds. These funds were reportedly routed through a network of Canada-based entities that have since been identified and examined.

Yugpreet, in turn, recruited the other two accused. The trio allegedly carried out the grenade attack at the Asron police post on the intervening night of December 1–2. Foreign handlers had allegedly supplied the grenade used in the crime.

The case remains under investigation. An NIA official said, “Our efforts are focused on dismantling KZF’s terror infrastructure and foiling their plans to target law enforcement agencies, critical installations, and orchestrate targeted killings in Punjab.”
