With the CFSL report confirming that she was raped, the Chandigarh Police, three years after she was murdered, has now added charges of rape to the Neha Ahlawat murder case.
The Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL),Chandigarh, report suggests that Neha was not gangraped but was raped by one youth. However, the police are yet to find out who raped and murdered Neha.
A rape charge under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code has been added after the Crime Branch received the forensic report of the semen found on Nehas clothes from the CFSL recently. The report suggests that she was raped by one youth. However,it appears that more than one youth were involved in her murder, a police officer told Newsline.
The Crime Branch has also received the report of blood samples of two of the six suspects Sanish and Kunal. The DNA in both the blood samples did not match with the DNA of the semen found on Nehas clothes. The report of the other four suspects Bhitesh,Sachin,Hitanshu and Sagar is still awaited.
The Crime Branch on November 18 had sent the blood samples of Hitanshu to CFSL for a DNA match. Of all the six suspects, this was the last blood sample to be sent by the Crime Branch. All six suspects were Nehas friends while Sanish and Kunal are brothers.
On the night of July 30,2010,Nehas body was recovered from near a taxi stand in Sector 38 (West). A resident of the same locality,Neha was found in a semi-naked condition. Her post-mortem report specified injuries on her private parts but could not confirm rape. Therefore, the Chandigarh Police sent the sample of semen found on Nehas clothes to CFSL,Chandigarh,to verify whether Neha was raped before she was murdered. However,it took CFSL more than three years to deliver the report after the Chandigarh Police sent repeated reminders to the forensic department.
Mystery still prevails about the location where Neha was raped and murdered. It is not yet clear whether she was raped and killed at some other location and then her body was dumped in Sector 38 (West). Nehas scooter that was recovered from near her body also had her bloodstains on it.
