National parents’ meet to begin at GMCH-32 today

Over 300 parents of Intellectually disabled children have come together to discuss challenges being faced by intellectually disabled people.

In a struggle to get equal rights,respect and acceptance in the society,the parents of intellectually disabled children from across India have gathered to attend 21st national parents meeting,which will be inaugurated on November 11 at Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32 (GMCH-32).

Over 300 parents of Intellectually disabled children from across India have come together to discuss challenges being faced by intellectually disabled people.

Rashmi Joshi (name changed) from Nagpur said,“acceptance from society is a major problem which we encounter on daily basis. Our children do not get due respect in society. We want to create awareness among general public,that our children are special and have equal rights like they have.”

The meet is being organised by PARIVAR- the national confederation of parents’ organisations and is being sponsored by National Institute for Mentally Handicapped (NIMH),Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment,Secunderabad.
