Naresh to lead Chandigarh boxers

The Chandigarh Amateur Boxing Association (CABA) announced Chandigarh men's team that will represent Chandigarh in the 9th Sr National Boxing Championship to be held at Hyderabad from October 30 to November 4.

Chandigarh:The Chandigarh Amateur Boxing Association (CABA) announced Chandigarh men’s team that will represent Chandigarh in the 9th Sr National Boxing Championship to be held at Hyderabad from October 30 to November 4. Naresh will lead the Chandigarh challenge.

Team: (49 kg): Sumit Hooda,(52 kg): Naveen,(56 kg): Surinder,(60) kg Ashish,(64 kg): Naresh (Captain),(69kg): Neeraj,(75 kg): Jaspreet,(81 kg): Vishwajeet,(91 kg): Rajbeer,( + 91 kg): Deependra,Sohan Singh (Manger) and Balkar Singh (Coach).

Mankirat,Manvir & Karan win titles

Mohali:Mankirat got the better of Sidharth 4-0,4-5 (7-5),4-1 in an exciting final to claim the boy’s Under-10 title in the Paragon Total tennis championship hekd at Paragon School,on Monday. Manvir thrashed Sumer Sandhu 4-0,4-0 to win the boy’s Under-12 title while Karan edged past Aniket 3-6,6-3,6-0,to annex the boy’s Under-14 title. Meanwhile,Nikhil prevailed over Parminder 8-6 and Arsh Bulland defeated Sidharth 8-4 to storm into the men’s final.

NSS camp concluded

Chandigarh:A seven day and night NSS camp,organised by the NSS unit of Dev Samaj College for Women Sector 45 Chandigarh,concluded today. The chief guest during the final presentation was Dr. Meera Modi,Principal Dev Samaj College. Students demonstrated what all they learned during the camp which included special self-defense techniques. Such classes were conducted by Shiv Raj Gharti (3rd Degree Black Belt USA) and general secretary for Chi Kwang Do Martial Art Association {India}. The Principal of the college appreciated Shiv Raj Gharti’s efforts and congratulated his team for the remarkable job.

Satluj Academy beat St Soldier’s

Panchkula:Led by combined effort from Shivanshu Sharma (64 not out) and Shravan Sharma (60),Satluj Stunner’s Cricket Academy,Sector 4,recorded a six-wicket win over St Soldier’s Cricket Academy,Sector 16,in a match played during cricket tournament for U-15 in Panchkula. Batting first,St Soldier School posted a total of 210 runs for the loss of six wickets in 30 overs. Kshitij Sharma played a patient innings of 58 runs for St Soldier’s School. In reply,riding high on Shivanshu Sharma (64 no) and Shravan Sharma (60),Satluj Academy achieved the target in 28 overs,losing four wickets.

Skating event on November 3

Chandigarh:Carnivals (India) is organising 1st Roller Skating Carnival on November 3 and 4. More than 300 skaters from North India are expected to participate in the skating event. One-month golf camp for women

Chandigarh:Chandigarh Golf Club will be holding one month ladies golf camp,for members and non-members starting from November 3. The camp will be held twice a week. The programme has been designed for beginners and also for skilled golfers. During the camp,all the basic fundamentals of the game will be covered including putting,chipping,long and short iron,bunker shots,wood play,rules and ettiquette etc. The camp will be conducted by coach Manjit Kochar. Table tennis meet from Nov 2

Mohali:Mohali District Table Tennis Association will organise the Mohali District table tennis championship on November 2 and 3 at The Millennium School,Mohali. The last date for sending entries is October 30. The shortlisted players will represent Mohali District in the Punjab table tennis championship to be held from November 18 at Amritsar. The event would be held in Cadet boys and girl’s Under-12,sub junior boys and girls’ Under-15,junior boys and girls Under-18 and Youth boys and girl categories. Carrom tournament from Nov 11

Chandigarh:The 14th Raj Kumar Babuta Memorial Prize Money carrom ranking tournament from November 11 at St Stephen’s School,Sector 45. The tournament will be played in men’s singles,boys’ singles (Junior),boys singles’ (Sub-junior),women’s singles’,girls singles’ (Junior) and girls singles’ (sub-junior) categories. Players under the age of 18 years as on December 31,2012 are eligible to take part in junior category while players below 14 years as on December 31,2012 will be eligible to take part in sub-junior category. The top three position holders in each event will be given cash prizes while the top eight position holders will earn ranking points for selection in Chandigarh team for upcoming national championships. Kho-kho trophy on the anvil

Chandigarh:MDAV School,Sector 42 will organise the Third Luxmi Arya Memorial Kho-Kho Trophy (U-14 boys and girls) from November 19 to November 21 at the school premises. Interested school teams can contact Surinder Singh Bhandari at 9814630280 for entries and the last date for entries is November 10. Players born on or after January 1,1999 are eligible to take part in the championship. The entry fee per team is Rs 350.

Sepal Takraw meet from Nov 3

Chandigarh:Chandigarh Sepak Takraw Association will organise Chandigarh Senior State sepak takraw championship for men and women at Mount Carmel School,Sector 47,on November 3 and 4.
