Murder outside Aroma: Owner of Scorpio still to be arrested

Police are on the lookout for another accused in the murder of 28-year-old Harminder Singh alias Harry.

Police are on the lookout for another accused in the murder of 28-year-old Harminder Singh alias Harry. The accused identified as Sukhjeet Singh Sooch,is a resident of Phase 11,Mohali,and is the owner of the Scorpio car which the accused left behind at the scene of the crime. His cellphone was also recovered from his car by the police.

According to the police,Sooch had recently returned from Calgary in Canada. Sooch,who is in his mid twenties was staying alone at his Mohali residence. He is reported to be taking care of of his vegetable business and had a vegetable farm in Madhya Pradesh.

Police sources also confirmed that Harry was beaten with a stone which resulted in fatal injuries. However,the police have not yet confirmed that he was runover by a SUV after being beaten.

On Saturday,the police arrested seven accused involved in the murder. The accused were identified as Harsimranjeet Singh alias Sandy and six others who worked at his Sector 48 shop. Harry,who was pursuing MBA from Ireland had recently returned to India. He was murdered after he entered into an argument with the accused over a minor issue.

Police clamp down on night vendors

Chandigarh: In the wake of the rising crime incidents especially during the night,the Chandigarh Police has decided to keep the un-authourised roadside food vendors and eateries operating at various places in the city after 11pm in check. In order to control the growing lawlessness outside pubs and roadside eateries,especially during nights,the police have been instructed to get all the pubs and discotheques closed within the prescribed time. Police will also ensure that people are not allowed to stand outside Aroma Hotel and two PCR vehicles will be deployed outside the hotel to maintain law and order.
