The Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT)-cum-commercial complex, which was scheduled to open in November, is set to miss the deadline, again.
It will now be completed next year. The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has also issued a notice to the C and C company seeking its clarification on the delays in the completion of the project.
GMADA officials said the ISBT was to be handed over to it in November this year, but now the project will be completed next year and the the delay will further increase the cost of the project to around Rs 400 crore.
GMADA chief administrator A K Sinha said they have issued the notice to the company and also sent a termination letter to the company for the delay in the project.
Sinha added that the company representatives told them that they applied for a loan and the project will be completed after the sanctioning of the loan.
The company had earlier planned to start movement of buses at ISBT by October 2011, but the deadline was extended till November 2012. The project was not completed till November 2012 and the deadline was again extended till June 2013.
The ISBT comprises an air-conditioned bus stand-cum-17 storeyed international hotel. The project would come in two phases, the first which is likely to be operational by second quarter of 2013 would be the bus stand, while the commercial part of the project, comprising the international hotel, malls, multiplexes, would be constructed in the second phase.
