Cinegoers will have to pay more for watching movies at PVR, Elante Mall, with UT Deputy Commissioner Ajit Balaji Joshi approving the increase in rates of tickets while Fun Republic (FR) has slashed ticket rates in different categories.
The new rates have been approved by the UT deputy commissioner, who is the licensing authority. The rates have been revised following requests made by the managements of both the multiplexes.
Chander Mohan, PVR manager, said that there had been a hike of Rs 30 for normal class and Rs 50 in gold class. Giving reasons for increasing the rates, he said that the ticket rates were last revised three years ago. “The rates of electricity and other items have increased manifold, which made us hike the rates,” said Mohan, adding that they had also improved the facilities for the benefit of their customers.
“We have installed Atmos Dolby system, which is a new audio technology,” said Mohan.
During weekdays (Monday to Thursday), the rate of gold class in shows before 12 noon has been fixed at Rs 300 while the rate of normal class has been fixed at Rs 130. For shows after 12 noon, one will have to pay Rs 550 for gold class and Rs 180 for normal class.
During weekend (Friday to Sunday), the rate of gold class in shows before 12 noon is Rs 450 and Rs 180 for normal class.
Gold ticket in afternoon shows will cost Rs 650 and Rs 230 for normal class.
FR, one of the oldest multiplexes of the city, has reduced the tickets price from Rs 50 to Rs 100 in different categories to attract more customers.
For shows before 12 noon, one will have to pay Rs 150 for business class during weekdays, Rs 100 for gold and silver class. For afternoon shows, business class ticket will cost Rs 300 during weekends, gold class Rs 140 and silver class Rs 130. For shows before 12 noon, business class ticket will cost Rs 200, gold class Rs 110 and silver class Rs 100. Business class ticket for shows after 12 noon has been priced at Rs 400, gold class at Rs 150 and silver class at Rs 140.
