The partially decomposed body of a young woman was found in a plot near Lidhran village on the Jalandhar-Amritsar National Highway-1.

The partially decomposed body of a young woman was found in a plot near Lidhran village on the Jalandhar-Amritsar National Highway-1 on Tuesday.

A resident of Amritsar,Fiza alias Simran Kundra (25) lived in a rented accommodation in Sector 15 here and was pursuing a fashion designing course from a Sector-8 institute in Chandigarh.

“On the intervening night of April 30 and May 1,we found an abandoned car (Chevrolet Beat) in Sector 16 here. After going through the documents found inside,we found out that it belonged to the woman and called her father,Rajesh Kundra,” said Sector 14 SHO Inspector Aman Kumar.

He added: “Rajesh Kundra then got a missing complaint registered about the woman and alleged that her former husband,Karan,who was from Amritsar,could be behind her disappearance.” The divorce took place last month.

“On going through the call records,we zeroed on a friend of the woman too. We are still investigating the matter,” he said. The body was recovered by the Jalandhar police after a villager spotted it around 4 pm on Tuesday. The Panchkula police were then informed and they registered a case of murder and kidnapping,said Panchkula SP Maneesh Chaudhry.
