Slamming the Punjab government for violating financial norms,Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari today said that Punjabs economy has deteriorated in the last six years.
Tewari was here to inaugurate SAARC Diploma Engineers Conference organised by All India Federation of Diploma Engineers (AIFODE).
Speaking to The Sunday Express on the sidelines of the event,Tewari said,In the last six years the state government has violated all norms of economic management which has resulted in the present financial crisis
On Punjab governments demand for higher share of funds from the Finance Commission,Tewari said he will leave the decision to the wisdom of the commission.
Asked about his reaction to the likely anointment of Narendra Modi as BJPs Prime Ministerial candidate,Tewari said,in our scheme of things people are immaterial. We give importance to philosophy and ideology.
Earlier,addressing a gathering,Tewari said,India has always maintained that we dont only want to strengthen SAARC in political terms but also in economic terms. The creation of South Asia Free Trade Area and South East Asia common market would be in the interest of the people of the region.
Over 150 delegates including 44 foreign delegates participated in the meet.
