The Military Literature Festival (MLF) Organising Committee has announced the eighth edition of the festival in Chandigarh, with a central theme commemorating the 25th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil War. The festival will honour the courage of young officers and soldiers awarded the Param Vir Chakra for their bravery during the conflict, reflecting the spirit of the young commanders and men who led their troops up treacherous slopes in 1999.
This year’s festival will commence on Sunday, 17th November, with a tribute to the Kargil martyrs at Chandigarh’s Regional War Memorial in Sector 2. The ceremony will be led by Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria. Following this, a “Bravehearts Ride” motorcycle rally will bring the message of courage and sacrifice to the Tricity, featuring 1,286 motorcyclists from across the region. Flagged off near Chandigarh Club, the rally will conclude at the Khetarpal Officers Mess and Institute in Chandimandir, carrying a message that champions patriotism, physical well-being, and resistance against drugs, crime, and terrorism.
The main event will take place over the weekend of 30th November and 1st December at Chandigarh’s Lake Club. Panels on military strategy, history, and contemporary issues will feature notable thinkers, writers, and analysts. Alongside these discussions, festival-goers can expect book stalls, cultural performances, and displays of military equipment, all of which aim to deepen public engagement with military heritage and contemporary defence matters. The popular Clarion Call theatre will return, blending information and entertainment to provide attendees with thought-provoking experiences.
Marking Nehru’s birth anniversary and Children’s Day, the organisers stressed the importance of technology in safeguarding and enhancing the future of the nation’s youth. MLF extended gratitude to the Punjab Government for financial support and acknowledged contributions from Western Command, the Chandigarh Administration, and dedicated volunteers. The committee urged Tricity residents to join in large numbers to honour the memory of India’s military heroes and enjoy the festivities.
