After the success of the Night Food Street near PGI,the Municipal Corporation is planning to launch round-the-clock food streets in three places in the city-Industrial Area Phase I,II and near Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32. The concept has received a nod from the UT Administration. Explaining the choice of locations,Mayor Kamlesh said: “It was felt that there were not many options to eat out in the Industrial Area. Not everyone can afford to go and eat in an expensive restaurant. We will provide the residents clean and hygienic food at reasonable prices.”
The Night Food Street near PGI,a hit with attendants of patients and students,functions from 7 pm to 7 am. Initially,objections were raised on the high prices of certain food items,which were later reduced by Rs 5 to 20 depending on the item. The Day and Night Food Streets will showcase a variety of cuisines including Indian,Chinese and Continental.
