Manimajra cops claim five arrests,vehicles’ recovery in 2 days

Officials at Manimajra police station claimed to have arrested five accused,in a span of two days (28-29 July),involved in five separate cases of auto theft. All the five arrested were accused of stealing motorcycles.

In the first arrest on July 29,a resident of Indira Colony was held,against whom a case of theft dated February 6,2008 was registered at Sector 39 police station. According to the police,the accused,Aamir Khan,had stolen a motorcycle from Sector 40. Khan (23) was arrested along with the stolen vehicle at a barricade near Shivalik Park in Manimajra around 7.30 pm.

In the second arrest on the same day (July 29),the police arrested a 24-year-old resident of Indira Colony,against whom a case of theft dated September 26,2011 was registered at Industrial Area police station. According to the police,the accused,Ram Kumar,was arrested along with the stolen vehicle at a barricade near Fauji Dhaba around 8.15 pm.

In the third arrest on July 29,the police arrested a 28-year-old resident of Manimajra,against whom a case of theft dated February 26,2009 was registered at Sector 3 police station. According to the police,the accused,Gurpreet Singh,had stolen a motorcycle near DAV College in Sector 10. Singh was arrested along with the stolen vehicle at a barricade near Railway Colony turn in Mauli Jagran around 8.15 pm.

Earlier,on Sunday (July 28),Manimajra police officials had arrested two accused in separate cases of auto theft. According to the police,Shahid,a resident of Manimajra,was accused of stealing a motorcycle,after which a case was registered in Sector 26 police station. The police caught the accused along with the stolen vehicle at a barricade.

The police arrested the second accused,against whom a case of theft was registered on September 8,2012. Mani Maharaj,a resident of Ludhiana,was accused of stealing a motorcycle from Hallo Majra last year,they said. The police caught the accused along with the stolen vehicle at a barricade at Modern Housing Complex on Old Ropar road.

A case has been registered against all five under Section 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the IPC at Manimajra police station.
