The two-day annual 19th mango mela will be organised at the Pinjore Gardens on July 3 and 4,to encourage farmers to adopt the latest technology,so that their production,productivity and quality of product can be increased,said Om Prakash Jain,Tourism Minister,Haryana,while addressing the media at Haryana Niwas on Friday.
The mela will be inaugurated by Urvashi Gulati,Chief Secretary,Haryana,at 5 pm on Saturday.
Governor Jagannath Pahadia would be the chief guest in the prize distribution-cum-closing ceremony on July 4.
Jain said the mela also provided a forum to mango growers to market their produce.
It also provided a common platform to artisans and self-help groups to display and sell their handloom and handicraft products. The minister said the registration of entries of mangoes and its products will commence at 7 am on July 3.
A rangoli competition will be organised at noon,slogan writing competition at 1 pm,face painting at 2 pm,tambola at 4 pm while the mela will be formally inaugurated at 5 pm and cultural programmes will begin at 6.30 pm.
Similarly,on the second day of the mela,painting,fancy dress and mango cutout contests,and demo for preparation of mango products for ladies,mehandi,mango-eating competition,tambola and prize distribution will be held,followed by cultural programmes at 6 pm.
