Meanwhile, the role of Akash’s brother Gaurav, who was also present at the spot, is under the scanner. Akash and Gaurav are sons of a UT Police head constable named Deepak.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 4.45 pm, when Mukesh was present in the booth market in Maloya. He was spotted by the three youths, who cornered him over a scuffle which took place between them on Friday.

Akash and Vivek were allegedly used to taunt Mukesh using his name as ‘Bassi’, which also means ‘stale’ in Hindi. On Friday, Mukesh had beaten them up after feeling insulted and the duo decided to avenge the attack on Saturday.

“The two of them entered into a brawl with Mukesh again today. However, it turned ugly as they pulled out their knives and stabbed Mukesh in his chest and arms in the presence of shocked onlookers. They left him in a pool of blood and fled the spot. The police were informed an the victim was rushed to PGI, where the authorities declared him brought dead,” said police officials.
