The Chandigarh police was unable to get clues to the identity of the victim or the offending vehicle, till Vikas approached them after reading reports of the death. According to the police, Vikas said that he,along with Roshan, had visited Naya Gaon to attend a friend’s party. “Both of us were drunk and under the influence of smack while we were returning home,” said Vikas.

Upon reaching Hira Singh chowk, the two met with an accident. “I do not remember whether a vehicle hit our motorcycle or Roshan lost control of the bike. I do not even remember why I left Roshan behind to die. I took the bike and went home,” Vikas said.
