Man murdered in Nayagaon,cops suspect drunken brawl

Police suspect someone known to the victim allegedly murdered him for money.

A 28-year-old man was found murdered in Nayagaon during the intervening night of November 2 and 3. The victim,identified as Ashok Kumar,belonged to Har Raipur town in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh. He was found dead in an alley in Vikas Nagar with injury marks on his face and head.

According to police,Kumar had come to Mohali recently to work as a painter for a newly-built building. Having completed his work,he was to leave for his home after collecting his salary.

Police suspect someone known to the victim allegedly murdered him for money.

However,the police have not ruled out a drunken brawl with a friend leading to the incident.

According to police,the victim was repeatedly hit with a brick on his head and face,due to which he died on the spot. His body was discovered in the morning and he was declared brought dead by the hospital.

A case of murder was registered against unknown person or persons under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) following a complaint by the victim’s cousin Anil Kumar.
