The police on Tuesday arrested a man on the charges of raping his two minor daughters after the elder one, who is 17 years old, told her school principal about it and also submitted a letter.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Urvija Goel said, “The girl told the principal that her father had been raping her since she was 10. She said that she decided to speak up when this started happening with her younger sister as well.”
In her letter, the girl said her father made her undergo abortion twice at a local clinic. She said that the sisters were raped at their residence in Sector 52.
The man is a daily wager. The girl, who is the eldest of four siblings and studies in class XI, told the principal that her mother suffers from a psychiatric disorder and is undergoing treatment at PGI.
The girl said that she told her mother, an uncle who lives near by and her younger brother about her sexual abuse, but nobody helped. Even her uncle’s son started raping her.
The younger brother, who studies in class VIII at the same school, told the principal that his sister had spoken to him, but he could not do anything, the principal said.
The younger sister studies at a different school. The youngest sibling is a boy.
The ASP said that when the principal called the police, the girl said nothing had happened with her.
“The mother of the girls denied the allegations. The two sisters said they wanted to stay with their mother, but we sent them to the Child Care Centre for tonight,” said Goel.
“On the basis of the complaint of the school principal, we have registered a case of rape and under Section 6 (penetrative sexual assault) of POCSO Act at the Sector 36 police station,” said the ASP.
The girls were sent for a medical examination. Their statements will be recorded in the presence of a magistrate on Wednesday.
