A local court on Monday acquitted a Ramdarbar resident charged with rape of a 15-year-old girl. As the victim turned hostile the court acquitted the accused identified as Gaurav. Another accused,Bhaskar, who was also charged with rape in the same case was acquitted earlier this year.

Uma Shankar who worked at a local shop in Ramdarbar filed a complaint in July last year that her 15-year-old daughter is missing. As per the complainant she got a call from the victim’s teacher on July 29 who informed her that her daughter is missing from school and her school bag is lying in her class room.

The complainant on reaching the school was informed by the school authorities that her daughter came to school but went missing after sometime. She then filed a police complain.

However the victim returned the same afternoon and alleged that she was forcefully taken by the accused Gaurav and Bhaskar to a house in Ramdarbar and was raped. She also informed her parents that the accused also recorded her video clips.

A case was then registered under Sections 376(2)(g) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

However, the victim later retracted from her statement and denied to have know the accused which led to the acquittal of the accused.
