Ludhiana: STF arrests two friends for drug peddling, 1.87 kg heroin recovered
The accused have been peddling drugs for the past one year, the police said.

The team of special task force (STF), Ludhiana Range, arrested two friends for drug peddling and recovered 1.87 kg heroin from them.
The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Istiyak (21) of Muslim Colony of Sherpur Kalan and Praveen Kumar (29) of Ramdit Nagar at Tibba Road.
The accused were arrested from Muslim Colony after a tip-off. DSP- STF Ludhiana Range, Devinder Kumar said that there was a tip that the accused were to travel to Jamalpur and Moti Nagar area for supplying heroin. Therefore, the team of inspector Harbans Singh, in-charge STF Ludhiana Range, put up a checkpoint and nabbed the accused.
The team recovered 1.87 kg of heroin from the backpack of the accused. Inspector said that the accused Mohammad Istiyak works as a tailor with his father while his friend Praveen is a worker in a food packaging unit.
“They are into peddling for the past one year and during questioning told that they had procured heroin from Sonu of Gopal Nagar. Therefore, the team has initiated further investigation to trace more people involved in the supply chain,” he said. A case under sections 21, 29 of NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at STF Police station in Mohali.
