Local lad Rishabh rallies into semis

Playing a controlled game,Chandigarh lad Rishabh Sharda rallied into the boys' U-12 semi-final stage with an easy 4-1,4-2 win over Abhimanyu Rozra in the CLTA-AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament being played at CLTA and Lake Club Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Playing a controlled game,Chandigarh lad Rishabh Sharda rallied into the boys’ U-12 semi-final stage with an easy 4-1,4-2 win over Abhimanyu Rozra in the CLTA-AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament being played at CLTA and Lake Club Sports Complex on Wednesday. Sharda claimed the first set with a 4-1 margin before claiming the second set with a 4-2 margin to advance ahead in the championships.

In another match in the same category,Anmol Kamboj ended the challenge of Savesh Maria with an easy 4-0,4-0 win,Kamboj blanked Maria 4-0 in the first set of the match before winning the second set with a same margin. It was tough going for Sanchit Sikka as he scored a 4-5 (2),4-1,4-0 win over Asav Kumar to advance into the semi-final stage. Sikka lost the first set 5-4 (2) to Asav before making a comeback into the match. Sikka first claimed the second set with a 4-1 margin before winning the third and final set with a 4-0 margin to advance ahead in the semi-final stage. In the last quarter-final encounter in the same category,MS Karthik scored a 5-4 (1),5-3 win over Savneet Bajwa to book a berth in the semi-final stage.

In the boys’ U-16 category,Punjab’s Paramvir Singh Bajwa eased his way into the semi-finals with a 6-1,6-1 win over Santbir Bhangoo. Bajwa claimed the first set with a 6-1 margin before winning the second set with an identical margin. Nihit Rawal had to fight his way to storm into the semis as he scored a 6-4,6-4 win over Vikrant Dahiya. Both the players played some attacking tennis in the first set before Rawal claimed the first set with a 6-4 margin. Rawal then claimed the second set with an identical margin to book a berth in the semi-finals. In another match in the same category,Sultan Atwal scored a 6-2,6-4 win over Manjot Singh while Raghav Talwar ended the challenge of Param Pun with a 6-4,6-1 win.

It was easy gong for Chandigarh’s Prinkel Singh as she rallied to a 4-0,4-0 win over Sehajnoor Dhillon to advance into the semi-finals in the girls U-12 category. Singh first claimed the opening set with a 4-0 margin before winning the second set with an identical margin. In another match in the same category,Taru Ahluwalia scored a 4-0,4-1 win over Ashpreet Bawa while Shreya Gulia ended the challenge of Akshita Tandon with a 4-1,4-1 win.
