Laying pipes parallel to Sukhna choe: HC tells UT to file affidavit

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday directed the Chandigarh Administration to submit an affidavit with regard to the date by which it will be able to complete the project of laying pipes parallel to Sukhna choe.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday directed the Chandigarh Administration to submit an affidavit with regard to the date by which it will be able to complete the project of laying pipes parallel to Sukhna choe.

While the counsel for the Municipal Corporation submitted that the project of implementation of the detailed project report prepared for stoppage of waste into N-choe would be completed by May 31,the High Court sought an affidavit.

During one of the earlier hearings,the administration in its status report had submitted that the project of stoppage of waste water into N-choe was divided into two parts — laying of sewer parallel N-Choe and construction of pump chamber near sectors 52 and 53,Chandigarh,and laying of gravity sewer in sectors 50 and 51,Chandigarh.

The MC had said that the work of second part of laying the gravity sewer in sectors 50 and 51 was complete and commissioned.

The public interest litigation filed by a local resident has been adjourned for three weeks.
