Law firm to help start-up entrepreneurs for free

The firm has started the initiative with a view to educate the start-up companies,including smaller corporate houses,about some basic concepts of corporate governance,structuring their business venture,drafting contracts and agreements and the funding options.

Evaluer is a specialized law firm,where attorneys provide legal advice on Indian company law and Indian employment law.

The company’s field work has shown that the region’s corporate sector is still in its stages of infancy in the area of corporate governance and there is a growing demand for “reliable,basic legal advice for entrepreneurs and mid-size companies”.

Prabhjit Gill,founder,Evaluer,said,“The opportunity to speak to many young entrepreneurs made me realise that most of them have only fanciful ideas about external funding,venture capital investment and private equity firms but don’t really know or understand the basics of such external funding.

Such funding,if not managed well,can prove to be a liability instead of being an asset.

Additionally,if the initial agreements are not drafted carefully,such investments can prove to be fatal for a company in the long term.”

Under the scheme launched on Tuesday,Evaluer will provide start-up entrepreneurs and smaller mid-sized firms information on the right government agency to consult. other services will include approvals required to start a specific line of business,legal advice on matters like company formation,LLP or partnership registration,structuring the board,defining the role and responsibility of each shareholder,formally documenting the rights and obligations of each shareholder and ways and means to infuse capital.
