In an accident which occurred at midnight on Friday at the Sector 43-44 light point,Sandeep Kumar,a resident of Sector 25 lost his life while the pillion rider Mamta sustained injuries.

In an accident which occurred at midnight on Friday at the Sector 43-44 light point,Sandeep Kumar,a resident of Sector 25 lost his life while the pillion rider Mamta sustained injuries. While Mamta and other friends of the deceased said that it was a white and yellow colored pick-up van which had hit their motorcycle,the police officials said that his motorcycle skidded at the turn.

At midnight,a group of six persons were coming from Mohali. All the persons were on motorcycles and were returning from a birthday party of a college. As per the friends of the deceased and bystanders Sandeep and Mamta’s vehicle was hit by a pick-up van which fled from the spot.

“Sandeep and Mamta remained in a pool of blood when we reached. They were ahead of us. We took the help of the nearby residents and rushed the two to GMSH (Government Multi-Specialty Hospital) Sector 16. when we asked Mamta what happened,she said that their motorcycle was hit by a pick up van,white and yellow in colour,” said one of Sandeep’s friends.

On the other hand,Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) South,Surjit Singh Malik said that the motorcycle of the deceased skidded while he was taking a turn.

Sandeep,25 years of age,was referred to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) from GMSH-16 where he later died under treatment. Mamta however sustained fractures and is in a stable condition as per the doctors. Body of the deceased will be handed over to the family after post mortem.
