On Monday, the accused were produced in court where investigators sought more time to investigate the robbery angle. The court remanded three of the accused — Pradeep,Ajit and Anil — in three-day police custody. However, the other three — Nitin,Sanjeev Kumar alias Soni and Sukhdev — were sent in judicial custody.

The robbery took place on the night of January 16 when Sector 33 resident Gurdeep Singh alleged that two motorcycle-borne youths, with their faces covered, had allegedly snatched a bag containing Rs 10 lakh from near his house after hitting him with a baseball bat.

Singh, who ran a money exchange business in Sector 32,was returning on his scooter when the incident had happened around 9 pm. Police have claimed that the accused who had similar cases registered against them in Haryana needed to be questioned about their involvement.

The accused were arrested after they kidnapped NRI Navneet Singh and demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore from the victim’s brother.
