Surat Singh Khalsa’s son moves Punjab and Haryana HC, claims kin not allowed to meet him

Fasting activist Surat Singh Khalsa’s son Ravinderjeet Singh has moved the High Court, alleging that family members of the activist were not being allowed to meet him by the authorities at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana. The High Court Thursday directed the Punjab government to file its reply on the petition by May 30.

Khalsa, of Hasanpur village in Ludhiana, is said said to be on hunger strike demanding premature release of Sikh prisoners who have been sentenced to life in various cases. The government authorities had admitted him to a hospital in Ludhiana. His son, however, alleged that his father was admitted to hospital
