Doctors panel confirms cause of death: Crime branch
Karam Singh,the former sarpanch of village Kambopura in Karnal district,died of poisoning,a three-member panel of doctors who conducted the post mortem examination have confirmed,sources in Haryana Crime Branch said today.
The three doctors,part of the Forensic Medicine Department of Rohtaks Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences,recorded their statements and confirmed the cause of death as poisoning,crime branch officials said.
Sources said the State Crime Branch has now forwarded the entire case file,including the statements of the doctors,to T D Dogra,who is heading the Forensic Medicine Department at All India Institute of Medical Sciences,for his opinion on the exact cause of death.
Haryana police had earlier approached Dogra to seek his opinion on the cause of death of Karam Singh.
But Dogra said he would be able to give his opinion only after going through the detailed post mortem examination report and also the statements of the doctors who conducted the examination.
We have now recorded the statements of the three doctors and forwarded the case file to Dogra. His opinion is awaited, said a senior Haryana police officer.
A day before his death on June 7,Karam Singh had lodged a written complaint with Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and levelled allegations of corruption on the then chief parliamentary secretary to Haryana government,Zile Ram Sharma,and then transport minister O P Jain.
Subsequently,his elder son Rajinder Singh had lodged a complaint with Karnal police and accused Sharma and Jain of plotting his fathers death. The complaint was converted into a FIR but no one was named as the accused.
A Haryana police officer said they were waiting for certain technical details before questioning people,who have been accused in the case.
The investigations are on. Certain technical details pertaining to exact cause of death are still awaited. Once we get all the reports,only then we will be able to decide further course of action, the officer said.
