Kapil Dev’s ailing mother dies at 85

Suffering from health problems for a long time,Raj Kumari Nikhanj,mother of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev,died here early morning at her residence in Sector 27.

Suffering from health problems for a long time,Raj Kumari Nikhanj,mother of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev,died here early morning at her residence in Sector 27. The end came at about 5 am in the morning. Wife of late Ram Lal Nikhanj,Raj Kumari,85,leaves behind three sons and four daughters. Kapil was in New Delhi and on hearing the news,rushed to Chandigarh alongwith his wife Romi.

The cremation was done in Sector 25 at 5.00 pm. A reasonable gathering from the region,including Kapil’s close-friends and relatives attended the last rites. Kapil’s eldest brother,Ramesh Kumar Nikhanj,Bhushan Nikhanj ap-and he himself lit their mother’s pyre.
