Playing a controlled game,HS Kang gathered 38 points to emerge as the inner in the 0-6 Handicap category to make it to the Chandigarh Golf Club team in the qualifier held at Chandigarh Golf Club for the IGU NHS National Club Challenge.
Around 150 golfers with handicaps of 24 and below participated in team selection round of Chandigarh Golf Club to earn a club team spot.
While H S Kang,with 38 points,won in the 0-6 H’cap category,the winners in other categories were SH Darvesh Kumar (35 points) in 7-10 H’cap category,Brig PPS Dhillon (35 points) in 11-15 H’cap category,ER Virender Malik (37 points) in 16-20 H’cap category and Col DS Sandhu (41 points) in 21-24 h’cap category. “It is for the first time that I’m playing in such a format. This concept includes all the golfers of a particular club which never happened before. Earlier,there were two or three top golfers who would get an opportunity to represent a club. With National Club Challenge,this has changed and I’m happy to be a part of the Chandigarh Golf Club’s team,” Kang said after the win.
The individual winner in each of the five handicap category along with Sandeep Sandhu,Captain of Chandigarh Golf Club,who has been nominated by the club,will represent the club team at North Zone Finals at Noida Golf Course on December 20 later this year. At the 18 hole Zonal finals,the best five 18 hole total stableford scores of the six players will make the team score and the top two teams from each of four Zonal Finals will qualify for the third stage,the National Finals.
The Zonal qualifiers,Zonal Finals and National Finals will be played in individual Stableford off 3/4thhandicap allowance.
