Over two dozen members of the District Bar Association (DBA) on Monday submitted written representations to District and Sessions Judge S K Goel alleging that Parinder Singh,Judicial Magistrate (first class),brandished his gun in the court complex.
The development comes on the first day of the DBAs two-day boycott of the court of Parinder Singh.
The decision to boycott the judge was taken during a house meeting of the DBA on Friday. The meeting was convened on the requisition of one of the members of the association. Aggrieved with his conduct, the DBA had decided to boycott his court for two days.
N K Nanda, president of the District Bar Association, said,Though I have personally not seen the judge carrying the gun, some of our members had seen him brandishing his gun. We have brought the matter to the notice of District and Sessions Judge S K Goel.
The representations said at 9.45 am on Monday, the judge had the pistol with him in his hand on the court premises and the same was seen by more than 20-25 lawyers. The lawyers requested the District and Sessions Judge to take possession of the weapon,as due to the boycott of his (Parinder Singhs) court, the members of the DBA feared that he might misuse the same.
When contacted,Parinder Singh refused to comment on the matter.
