A day after the daring robbery at PC Jewellers in Panchkula, its owners are all praise for one of its employees,Pawan Kumar. It was this youth’s presence of mind that saved the showroom from a bigger loss.
According to P C Garg, chairman of the showroom, had Pawan not pressed the alarm bell, the robbers would have got more time to collect more jewellery items from the showroom.
Pawan,in his early twenties, has been working with PC Jewellers for the last one year. He said though he was scared, the first thought that came to his mind after the robbers struck was how to save his colleagues from the armed miscreants.
In a daylight robbery that rocked Panchkula on Tuesday morning, five armed persons decamped with gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 1.75 crore from the Sector-14 showroom. They fled only after hearing the alarm bell.
Talking to Newsline,Pawan said: “I was on the second floor of the building, along with two others. We had not realised that a robbery was taking place downstairs, till a plumber,Charan Singh, saw the robbers and ran upstairs to inform us.” Before looking for a place to hide,Pawan pressed the alarm bell.
“We are proud of our employee for taking the bold step. We would have incurred more losses otherwise,” said Garg.
