Abhijit Lavania of Chandigarh topped the Tricity in Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (JEE-Advance),results of which were declared on Friday evening,by scoring 299 marks out of 360. His all-India rank is 29. This test determines admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology as well as other centrally-funded institutes.
The JEE-Advance exam was held on June 2. Those students who had secured 113 marks and above in the JEE-Mains held on April 7,were eligible for this test. The test was held for admissions to around 10,000 seats in the IITs. The JEE exam has replaced the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). Over 2,000 students from the tricity took the JEE Advance test.
Lavania had also topped the tricity in JEE-Mains exam by scoring 331 marks out of 360.
A resident of Sector 18,Lavania did his matriculation from YPS School,Mohali,and scored 95.3 per cent.
He did his 12th from Stepping Stones Senior Secondary School,Sector 37 and got 94 per cent marks. I believe in hard work and consistent studies, he said.
Akshit Trehan,second in Tricity,has got all india rank of 85. Trehan hails from Ambala but now lives in the city. He secured 279 marks. In JEE-Mains exam also he stood second by securing 315 marks.
Trehan did his matriculation from Army Public School,Ambala and scored CGPA of 10. He also did his 12th from Stepping Stones Senior School and secured 95.6 per cent.
Sharing his success formula Trehan said,I believe in understanding only. One should have deep understanding of concepts for cracking such exams.
Among other city students who have got high ranks are Arnav Kansal,rank 229,Gaurav,rank 236 rank,Lakshya Goel,270,and Amandeep,291.
