Jaskaranveer’s double ton fashions Chandigarh triumph over Mohali

Playing at the LIC grounds in Sector 26 on Wednesday,Jaskaranveer Singh showed why he is rated as one of the best emerging talents in Chandigarh. The youngster smashed 205 runs off 147 balls to guide Chandigarh to a 20-run win over Mohali in the Punjab State Inter-District One Day Cricket Tournament.

Chandigarh won the toss and elected to bat first. They were given a scintillating start by their openers Jaskaranveer Singh and Shivam Bhambri as they were associated in a 239-run partnership for the first wicket. Bhambri was first to depart after playing a knock of 84 runs off 113 balls. Bhambri smashed ten boundaries. Jaskaranveer continued his fine form and reached his double century off just 147 balls. Singh hit 22 boundaries and five towering sixes. Chandigarh posted a mammoth total of 335 for 5 in the allotted 50 overs. For Mohali,Gurpreet claimed two wickets for 66 runs. Chasing a stiff target,Mohali got off to a flying start. Skipper Manpreet Singh blasted 81 runs off 51 balls while Abhijeet Garg contributed 55 runs off 59 balls. Maninder smashed nine boundaries and a six. Inderpreet contributed 42 runs off 65 balls. In the end,Mohali fell short off the target by 20 runs as they were restricted to 315 in 49.3 overs.

Bowlers star in Patiala win

Led by fine display,bowlers guided hosts Patiala to an eight-wicket win over Ludhiana in another match played at Dhruv Pandove Stadium,Patiala. The hosts won the toss and elected to field first. Their decision proved right as they restricted Ludhiana to a small total of 113 runs in 37.2 overs. Vinay Kapoor was the leading scorer for Ludhiana with 27 runs while Nikhil Chaudhary contributed 25 runs. For Patiala,Sukhwinder Singh claimed three wickets for 15 runs while Manpreet Singh grabbed two wickets for 20 runs. Vicky Sharma claimed two wickets for 27 runs. Chasing an easy target of 114 runs,Patiala reached the target for the loss of two wickets. Manpreet Singh was the main scorer for the hosts as he played a knock of 48 runs off 63 balls. Singh smashed eight boundaries during his stay at the crease. Prabhjot played a knock of 21 runs while Anmolpreet remained unbeaten on 20 runs. With this win,Patiala claimed five points including one bonus point.

In another match played at Burlton Park,Jalandhar,hosts Jalandhar scored a 56-run win over Amritsar and collected four points. Jalandhar won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first,the hosts posted a total of 309 for 6 in the allotted 50 overs. Mandeep Singh and Bhupinder Singh were associated in a 238-run stand for the second wicket for the hosts. Bhupinder Singh played a smashing knock of 136 runs while Mandeep contributed 129 runs as Jalandhar posted a total of 309 for 6 in the allotted 50 overs. For Amritsar,Rahul Kanojia claimed three wickets for 43 runs. In reply,Amritsar could manage a total of 253 in 50 overs. Rohan Marwaha was the top scorer for the team scoring 56 runs. For the winning team,Kamajot Singh claimed four wickets for 38 runs.
