Jagpal Singh is chief of Panchkula Bar body

The District Bar Association elections,held at the District and Sessions Court on Friday,passed off peacefully. Nearly 380 of the total 415 registered voters cast their ballot.

The District Bar Association elections,held at the District and Sessions Court on Friday,passed off peacefully. Nearly 380 of the total 415 registered voters cast their ballot.

Jagpal Singh,who was pitted against Balbir Singh,was elected president of the bar association. He won by a margin of 138 votes. Pramod Bhardwaj,meanwhile,was elected vice-president by defeating R S Sathi.

Hitendra Choudhary was chosen secretary against Vimal Maini.

There were no contestants for the post of joint secretary and the association will have a nominated member. Vikas Aggarwal was elected as treasurer who beat Hemant Sukhija. 

Jagpal Singh,who has been elected president,has earlier served as secretary and treasurer of the association. Expressing joy over his victory,Singh said his first priority would be to provide chambers to the advocates. He said he would also work to ensure better parking facility and security of the parking lot apart from speeding up the process for setting up a litigant shed
