As part of its ongoing investigations into the IPL spot-fixing scandal,a Delhi Police team conducted raids at the hotel JW Marriott in Sector 35,Chandigarh,on Thursday. As per available information,a three-member team, headed by a head constable, raided the hotel and seized CCTV footage and other documentary evidence related to the case.
The three personnel from Delhi Police had taken a room in the hotel a few days back. They had been gathering information while living in the hotel as guests, a source in the UT police department said.
The raids were conducted after the Delhi Police investigations revealed that a match played in Mohali between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab on May 9 was also spot-fixed.
The three-member team has scrutinised hotel records pertaining to movement in Sreesanths room (333). They had also kept a tab over the working of the hotel. Sources said that the Delhi police team has also inspected the log books that record movement of all guests in the hotel.
The UT police, however, were unaware of the Delhi Police teams presence in the city. We do not have any such information. The team must be carrying out their own investigations, said Surjit Singh Malik,Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP),South.
