All the persons registered under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in Haryana will now be insured under micro insurance scheme. An official spokesman said that Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has been roped in for the implementation of this scheme.
Employment assistants appointed under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme would insure the workers after completing all formalities. Bank accounts of all the skilled and unskilled workers registered under the scheme will be opened to enable payment of wages,said the spokesman. All the registered workers have been provided job cards which would be valid for five years,he added.
The spokesman said the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme had proved a boon for the rural poor. The scheme not only provides employment to the rural people,but ensures development in the villages. Development works,such as tree plantation,construction of water courses for minor irrigation,digging of village ponds,flood control construction of link roads,etc are being performed under the scheme.
