It was a hard but eventful day for Jaspreet Singh Multani as he reached the final of the boy’s u-10 category on the opening day of the British Total Tennis Championship held at British School,Sector 70,on Saturday.
En route to the final,he overcame three opponents. On a hot and humid day, when most of the opponents would have liked to wrap up the match as soon as possible,Jaspreet was grinding on the court and inching closer to the final.
The signs were ominous when Jaspreet came out on the court early in the morning. While all the other players got walkover from their opponents in the pre-quarterfinals,Jaspreet was the lone player in action.
He,however, won his match in style, thrashing Vaibhav 6-1 in a lop-sided encounter. The real battle was yet to begin for him.
Fresh from his victory,Jaspreet was up against Yashavi Balhara in the quarterfinals where he registered a comprehensive 6-2 win over his opponent to march to the semi-finals.
Regaling the scant spectators with his dominant performance and powerful forehands,Jaspreet outclassed Dharyan 7-2 to make it to the final, where he will face Neel Singh for the title.
Neel, unlike Jaspreet, needed to play just two matches and sealed final berth. After getting walkover from his opponent,Neel dislodged Sharan 6-2 to enter the semi-finals,where without losing a single game he thrashed Madhav 7-0.
