The shutterbugs, anxiously waiting for the Indian cricket team’s arrival in the city, went into a frenzy when Yuvraj Singh alighted from the team bus on Thursday afternoon. Those present to see the Indian team arrive, for the third one-day match against Australia to be played at PCA Stadium on October 19,shouted Yuvraj’s name.

It was the reception Singh gets every time he visits his home city.

Virat Kohli, centurion in the last match, was the first to get down from the bus with Yuvraj, looking sombre as compared to his usual effervescent self. However, the spotlight remained on Yuvi even as other team members entered the hotel.

Thirty-one-year old Yuvraj made his comeback into the Indian team after goodperformances during India A’s match against West Indies A and for India Blue in the NKP Salve Challenger Series.

Yuvi showed what the fans had been missing by smashing a match-winning 77 against Australia in the T20 match at Rajkot to guide the team to victory.

“Yuvraj is a match-winner and we missed him dearly. I am a huge fan and since the festive season is on,my friends and I will go to the stadium to watch him in action. We hope India wins the match,” said Pawan Sharma,a Panjab University student.

After a defeat in the first ODI,India made a stunning comeback and crushed Australia by nine wickets chasing 360 runs for victory.

While Kohli and Rohit Sharma scored centuries,Shikhar Dhawan missed scoring a century by just five runs as India made history chasing the second highest target in ODI’s. Yuvraj, however, did not get a chance to bat during the match.

Now,with the fast and bouncy Mohali wicket promising lots of runs, fans are expecting Yuvi to come up with another superb innings with the bat. “Yuvi looks in good touch and I am sure he will do well here. That is what thousands of fans like me are wishing,” said Komalpreet Singh,a Mohali resident.
