In SAD winner’s ‘must do’ list — toll free helpline to tackle graft

Four days after winning the elections from Dakha constituency,SAD MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali has promised to set up a dedicated number in his area for corruption complaints.

Four days after winning the elections from Dakha constituency,SAD MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali has promised to set up a dedicated number in his area for corruption complaints.

“No doubt a toll free number will be started by the state government as well, but I will start a separate number for my constituency as my primary aim is to ensure that area residents don’t give any bribe for getting their work done,” Ayali said.

The newly-elected MLA also said that the fight against drugs was his next agenda. Ayali claims he is ready with projects related to water supply, sanitation for various villages and kuccha houses, for which,he stated, funds will start coming soon. “The work never stopped even while I was campaigning,” he said.

Ayali defeated the Congress candidate Jassi Khangura by 16,366 votes, and credits his victory to his stint as Zila Parishad chairman. “This post was the 100 per cent contributor to my success. I roped in funds worth Rs 170 crore for the development of various villages and before me,no one realised the importance of this post and they were more acting like dummies,” Ayali said.

Ayali stated that along with the Dakha MLA’s job,he will continue to be the Zila Parishad chairman as well.

“The Zila Parishad Chairman is like the CM of the district. He is chairman of various committees and hence he can get funds for sanitation, education, rural development fund, health and many other departments. So I utilised the powers and did the same and will continue to do the same for the next 2 years till the time the elections for new chairman are not held. The development works done in villages are the proof of the same and hence the victory in elections was also written on walls,” the SAD MLA said.
